+ OVERVIEW:
Fecundity is a short story that focuses on the idea of the dark side of nature. Therefore, the title sequence should reflect that theme. The visuals should revolve around something pure being sullied through some beautiful, but sinister means. This will be a film-based title sequence. Utilizing mainly macro shots to capture all the unique, intricate details of each subject, this approach should provide both a beautiful, and unsettling look and feel

+ THEMES:
This title sequence is centered around 3 major themes, all linked together through a consistent palette, relating shapes, and compositional structure.
I recorded about 30 minutes-worth of my pet rat Petunia with a macro lens. I also recorded several minutes of macro footage of ink, water and ferrofluid. Then to connect these two visuals, I took Audubon’s scientific illustrations of rats, and multiplied ink bleeds over top the illustrations.
Lastly, I chose the typeface Mrs Eaves Roman to set the titles. This typeface has an impressive library of glyphs and ligatures, which when used properly, gives the type an almost illustrative appearance. This helped with giving the film a “brand”.
